Homies, I am very stoked about this one!! Now, considering you’re getting this newsletter, you’re likely someone with dreams and plans to make it in the film and TV world. You get the hustle, the grit, and the passion it takes to break through—and if you’ve been feeling a bit down or lost or unsure, I think Meredith is going to help bring that spark back to life.

Meredith Dawson is not only one of the funniest people I know. She’s an accomplished screenwriter whose career really is the stuff Hollywood dreams are made of. If you’ve ever wondered how a screenwriter catches their big break on some of TV’s most iconic shows? Or how someone evolves from working in writers’ rooms to directing? This is your chance to learn from someone who’s been there, done that and has SO much more on the horizon.

About Meredith Dawson

Meredith began her journey in the writers' room of not one but two Mindy Kaling-led series: Champions and Four Weddings and a Funeral. From there, she’s climbed the industry ranks, most recently serving as a Co-Executive Producer on Everybody Still Hates Chris, the animated reimagining of the beloved Chris Rock sitcom.

But Meredith’s talents don’t stop at TV! On the feature side, she’s set to make her directorial debut with her romantic comedy When Carrie Met Michael and Other People, produced by Paul Feig. She’s also tackling an exciting adaptation of Stacey Abrams’ novel Rules of Engagement, with Stacey Abrams and Kerry Washington producing for Universal.

What to Expect

During the Q&A, Meredith will pull back the curtain on her experiences working in television and film, offering insights into:

  • Breaking into the entertainment industry.

  • Working in writers’ rooms with big names like Mindy Kaling.

  • Shifting gears from writer to director.

  • Adapting novels for the big screen.

  • Balancing creativity, collaboration and business in Hollywood.
