December’s script read club is officially TOMORROW - Friday 12/20 and we’re reading JINGLE BELL HEIST by Abby McDonald - At the height of the holiday season, two strangers team up to rob one of New York’s most famous department stores while accidentally falling in love. This is a 2022 Blacklist script (same year as me!) so no film or tv show to watch.

Anyone know what show this still is from?! Answer below.

Links for Script and Meeting are below and if you’re still confused about the Blacklist- how to get on it, etc - I made a Tiktok about how I got onto the end of year list without managers/agents and a bit more intel on the two different sides of the Blacklist Brand.

Some Past Month Reads:

  • July - THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, screenplay by Aline Brosh McKenna based on the book by Lauren Weisberger

  • August - ABBOTT ELEMENTARY by Quinta Brunson

  • September - BEEF written by Lee Sung Jin & THE BEAR written by Chris Storer

  • October - SCREAM written by Kevin Williamson

  • November - PIZZA GIRL written by by Jean Kyoung Frazier

  • December - JINGLE BELL HEIST by Abby McDonald

What is Script Read Club?

Similar to a book club but it’s all about a script (shocker!) We’ll jump on a video chat and talk about what we loved, what surprised us, things we learned. Usually I’d also suggest doing a re-watch of the pilot/film beforehand (if it’s available!) as we’ll be chatting all things: plot, characters and development, dialogue, settings, themes, favorite moments, how did the show and screenplay compare and more!

Why Script Read Club?

Reading scripts is what I equate to taking my screenwriting work to the next level. The insights I gained from reading my favorite tv shows and writers work allowed me to better understand not only proper formatting of a script but the infinitely creative ways in which stories can be told in script format, how to define characters through dialogue, how important it is to develop my own sense of style and voice and so much more and when I was able to talk out the big ideas I took away from the read with friends, it enhanced it that much more!

This is a space for anyone who wants to be a writer, director or actor or just someone who loves to read.

Below you’ll find the slack invite, date, links to scripts and more! Can’t wait to see y’all there!
