and... the process of copyrighting your scripts.
This post is kind of a double whammy, because it touches on a big concern for many newer writers… the fear that someone is going to steal their script idea and when they should copyright their materials.
First up…. YES - idea theft can happen—but it’s way rarer than you might think. The truth is, the concept of an “idea” is legally and creatively much more abstract than a lot of people realize. An idea alone is not protectable (more on that later).
It’s the expression of the idea—how you write it, how you execute it—that matters in a court of law.
