    • 33 Filmmaker Grants to Apply for - a few are due at the end of this month

  • I’m always yappin’ away over on the tok! if you want to find me there!

Excited to report that my step-by-step multiverse continues to grow!

And my biggest undertaking yet is coming later this month.

A few things that are reminding me to BE HAPPY or at least not fling myself off a cliff 😃

  • The heatwave is OVER in Los Angeles and it’s giving… almost fall vibes

  • I loved BeetleJuice Beetlejuice, it was silly and wacky and had too many plots and I giggled the whole time.

  • The fact that Netflix bought ‘It’s What’s Inside’ created by first time feature writer-director Greg Jardin! For 17Million!!! is gonna be out on October 4th.

  • ‘My Old Ass’ written/directed by Megan Park is out tomorrow

  • Kamala Harris crushed it in my opinion and Taylor Swift finally came through 🙏

A week in the life of a baby writer

Meeting & Project Updates:

  • Book adaption meeting got rescheduled to next week.

Writing:

  • I started writing my PERIOD PIECE last week and I just finished. It’s going out for notes this weekend, so I am excited to hear back.

  • My managers have approved my GYMNASTICS pilot. Starting that this weekend, hoping to have it done by the 23rd! A bit wacky of a goal but let’s gooo!

Five on Friday

1. Film Studio Development Woahs and Woes

The recap:

This week on The Town and in his PUCK write up. Matt Belloni sat down with producer David Beaubaire, (Fatherhood, The Night Agent) who served two decades in executive jobs at Warner Bros., DreamWorks, Paramount, and Sony. They discussed the changing landscape of the movie industry and David did an amazing analytical break down of 505 films from the 9 major studios - what was made, who was involved, how did it come to be? They also dive deep into how the studios are choosing “which films to make”.

The biggest takeaway? Only 1/10 of the 505 movies he tracked actually came from their company’s internal development slate….

What does that mean for us? The newbie writers, directors and actors? A whole lot. I thought the report was extremely eye opening as a writer! And it’s important to breakdown that if only 1/10th of 505 films reviewed were from the internal developmental slate… what were the rest made up of??
